Renowned speakers at Woodrise 2019
The Woodrise 2019 conference will open its doors in a few days under the theme, “Building Our Cities for Future Generations.” The event, to be held in Québec City from September 30 to October 4, should attract attendees from numerous countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, the U.K., and the United States.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from more than 55 speakers from 17 countries on a wide range of topics, from the contribution of timber construction to the bioeconomy and carbon market to the impact of wood on the quality of life and comfort.
The opening keynote speaker is Richard Woschitz, a world-renowned engineer from Austria, who will discuss the new 24-storey wood-based building, HoHo, in Vienna. The closing address will be delivered by architect Marie-France Stendahl, from the Swedish firm White Malmö, who will speak about how the use of wood impacts the quality of life and comfort in cities built with the material.
Participants will also get the opportunity to attend one of the six technical workshops to be presented October 2 under the following themes:
- Acoustic and vibration performance
- Seismic risk prevention
- Fire safety
- Forest resources and wood products
- Asian construction market: R&D and market
- Durable building enclosure design
Woodrise 2019 is not a typical scientific conference — it’s a technical and business event. Beyond the high-profile speakers, it offers many other advantages, including trade show exhibitions, a B2B platform, technical workshops, and technical visits to various Quebec companies involved in wood manufacturing.
